The EmpirBus WDU v2 (Web Display Unit) is a compact web-server module that turns any EmpirBus digital switching system into a rich, fully graphical control interface. It serves customised HTML5 pages to any HTML5-capable device — smartphones, tablets and supported Garmin GPSMAP touchscreen MFDs — so the whole vessel’s switching can be operated and monitored from screens already on board.
The WDU connects to the EmpirBus system over an NMEA 2000 network and distributes graphics at Ethernet speed through a Garmin RJ45 connector, with optional Wi-Fi for wireless control from phones and tablets. Control layouts are configured graphically in the EmpirBus software with no practical limit on design. Housed in a sealed polycarbonate enclosure, it is built for the marine environment.
