Simrad RS100 Black Box VHF Radio

The Simrad RS100 is a modular black box DSC VHF marine radio system. The standard package includes one wired handset and one external speaker, and the system expands to as many as eight handsets — four wired and four wireless — and four external speakers for vessel-wide communication.

With several stations fitted, the RS100 doubles as an on-board intercom using Simrad HS100 wired or HS40 wireless handsets. The wireless handsets duplicate the radio display and controls on screens that stay readable in bright sunlight, and all primary functions are available from the handset: channel scan and favourites, alphanumeric keypad, station naming and 60-second audio rewind.

The RS100 is Class D DSC approved, so it can make and receive DSC distress signals including your current position and call other DSC-equipped radios directly. A GPS receiver is integrated, dual-channel watch monitors the current channel and emergency channel 16, and a record and replay feature helps make sure an important call is not missed. Outputs are provided for up to four external speakers and an optional loudhailer/foghorn.

NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 connectivity are standard. Handset backlighting can be grouped with NMEA 2000 backlight groups so displays and radios dim together, and Track Buddy lets you follow up to five other vessels using their VHF MMSI.
