The Furuno BBDS1 is a black box network sounder for NavNet 3D, NavNet TZtouch and NavNet TZtouch2 that adds bottom discrimination to Furuno Digital Filter (FDF) fish finder technology. By analysing the echo returned from the seabed, it identifies the main bottom component as mud, sand, gravel or rock — valuable information when looking for productive fishing grounds.
FDF filtering and digital auto tuning cut noise and suppress the main bang (echoes just below the transducer), making it easier to separate baitfish from larger target species in both shallow and deep water. ACCU-FISH analyses echo returns to estimate the size of individual fish and shows it on screen. Bottom discrimination can be displayed in Standard mode or Probability mode.
