Trolling Motors

Hold your boat on the fish without dropping an anchor. BME (Barrenjoey Marine Electrics) is a Minn Kota dealer, supplying the Riptide range of saltwater bow-mount trolling motors, built with advanced corrosion protection and fully encapsulated electronics for oceans and brackish water.

From the Riptide PowerDrive through to the brushless Riptide Terrova QUEST and Riptide Instinct QUEST, these GPS-guided electric motors can lock the boat onto a fishing spot, hold a set heading and be driven from a wireless remote, and they work with Humminbird fish finders through the One-Boat Network. Shaft lengths run from 54 to 100 inches, with 12, 24 and 36 volt systems delivering 55 to 115 lb of thrust.

Do you need advice?

Three things decide the right trolling motor: thrust, voltage and shaft length. As a rule of thumb from Minn Kota, allow at least 2 lb of thrust for every 100 lb (45 kg) of fully loaded boat weight, and a little more if wind or current are major factors where you fish. Motors of 55 lb thrust or less run on 12 volts (one battery), 68–80 lb on 24 volts (two batteries) and 101–112 lb on 36 volts (three batteries). Shaft length matters just as much: the centre of the motor section should sit at least 12 inches (30 cm) under the water. Contact our team and we will help you match a motor to your boat.
